Not So Happy 4th of July

Well we had a Happy 4th of July until the fireworks started. The day started with Jake going floating with his guy friends. So Kade and I stayed home and waited for him. Then when Daddy got home we went to a cookout with Papa and Grandma Carolyn at the lake. After that cookout we went to another cookout at Chad and Noel's house. Everything was fine until the fireworks started. The Cox's and Holston's had fireworks for their bigger kids to shoot off, so we were going to all sit outside and let the littler kids watch. Kade was scared to death of the loud noise. So I got the spend the rest of the evening inside with him crying and holding his ears! He wouldn't even watch them out the front window. And he would even hold his ears inside. Poor little guy! Every once in a while he would run to the front door and cry for DaDa. So Jake had to come in too. It wasn't the ideal 4th to say the least. Hopefully he'll be over that by next year!
But once we got home and all the noise had stopped, he was back to normal! Here he is making his funny face with Daddy's sunglasses on.

Kade's Funny Face

Kade now has a funny face! Every time I tell him to make his funny face, this is what he does.
He's also started doing it when I pull out the camera too! This could be a problem. Noel will have her work cut out for her at his next photo session!
And if you tell him to say "cheese", this is what you get!

Comfortable Bed?

Kade was napping in the play pen today and decided to throw everything out of it, including the cushion. I guess it wasn't too uncomfortable! I even had a hard time waking him up. :)

Uncle Bubba's Graduation

Here are Kade and cousin Nicholas on the car ride to Georgia to watch Uncle Bryan graduate from basic training. They were tired! We left Wednesday morning at 7:45 a.m. and arrived at our hotel that night at 10:45 p.m.
Here are Mommy & Kade on the way to Georgia. Kade's favorite thing to do in the car was listen to our IPOD's. He loves music! And he loved to put the ear buds in his ears.
Here Kade is sporting his new PT uniform that Uncle Bryan got for him while he was in basic training. Isn't he cute? He will be able to wear it for a long time. As you can tell, it's a little big!
Uncle Bryan just graduated, but Kade wasn't too happy. He was scared of all the noises during the graduation. They did a demonstration with grenades and tanks firing. Kade screamed through the entire thing.
Here are Daddy & Kade in front of a striker after Bryan's graduation. We had a great time watching Bryan's Turning Blue Ceremony on Thursday and Basic Graduation on Friday! Now "Uncle Bubba", which is what Kade calls him, is an Army National Guard Soldier. We are very proud of him!

Daddy & Kade decided to spend a little quality time together this afternoon for Father's Day playing video games!
Kade loves to watch Daddy play games. He was loving the head set too and didn't want to take it off!
Fun with Dad
Hey, what's this?

Growing Up

My baby's not a baby anymore! :( I can't get over how old he looks with his new haircut. I spiked his hair tonight. It didn't want to stand up for very long though. I still thought it was cute!

Kade's New Haircut

Kade's new haircut

Kade got a new haircut today. It's the shortest it has ever been. I really like it! I think it's going to be a good summer do. I've already had some comments that it's an Uncle Bryan haircut.

Kade being silly

I told him to say cheese for the camera!

Bowl Hat & Vaseline

So Kade was eating some popcorn today, and he insisted that I give him the bowl. He thought it would be better used as a hat! He won't wear real hats but doesn't seem to mind bowls.
Popcorn is one of his favorite foods. He especially likes to eat the kernels. Jake said he did that when he was a kid too. I guess that's where he gets it.
Another funny story from today...I was getting ready to leave the house and was letting Kade go back and forth between the living room and our bedroom. He was playing with a fan in our room, and I was in the living room, but I could hear him turning it off and on. I knew exactly where he was and what he was doing even though I couldn't see him. So it got quiet and I said, "Kade, what are you doing?" He came walking out of our bedroom, I guess to let me know what he was doing. He was eating something and saying yum. I got a little scared because there's no food in our bedroom. I asked him what he was eating, and he took me right to it. He had gotten into some Vaseline and was sticking his hand as far in the container as possible, pulling his fingers out, and eating it off his hands. He had it all over his hands, face, and pacifier. Apparently it tasted good because he was going back for more! It was baby powder scent, so I guess that's where the "flavor" came in. :) Oops!!

So Tired

Kade was so worn out after we came in from swimming and playing in the backyard that he fell asleep in my lap. That never happens! He was even still wrapped in his towel.
Look at my big boy! He's so big now, he almost takes up my whole lap. But he'll never be too big for mommy's lap in my eyes! So sweet.
Love it!!

Kade's New Pool

I got Kade a pool to go on our back porch today. He loves it! Even after we came inside, he was standing at the back door crying to go back out. I know we will be spending a lot of time out there this summer!

Oklahoma Aquarium

Daddy & Kade watching stingrays

Jake and I took Kade to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks today. Kade had a really good time! He loved to watch the fish swimming around in the tanks. He especially liked watching the stingrays and was trying to climb into the tank with them!

Daddy & Kade looking at fish

He would just watch the fish and point at them and say, "Oh!" Then when we moved on to another tank, he would cry to go back to the last one. I tried really hard to get him to say fish. But all he would say was bubbles!

Kade listening to a waterfall

Here we were watching raccoons, and there was a waterfall making a lot of noise right across from them. Kade thought that was neat!

Daddy & Kade watching fish

Here is more fish watching. He was scared of the bigger fish though. I would try to set him up on the ledge around the tank, so he could see better. But he didn't like that. He had a death grip on my arm at all times! One time he was pointing at a fish through the glass, and it swam right up to his finger. He jerked it away real quick and started whining. I guess he thought it was going to "get him".

Kade touching a starfish

Here Kade got to touch a starfish. It was at the bottom of a little pool. I think he liked playing in the water more than anything! He also cried when we left this exhibit too. His favorite things were the stingrays and turtles. One other funny thing, we were looking into a tank with colorful sea urchins, and it had one brown, very plain, fish. What caught Kade's attention? The brown fish. He didn't care one bit about the pretty, colorful sea urchins! We had a lot of fun watching Kade discover new things!

Piano Prodigy

We may just have a little piano player on our hands. Kade loves music and had never seen a piano before. My friend Amanda has one at her house, and while we were there Kade really enjoyed playing it. He did not want to stop playing!

My Water Baby

Kade absolutely loves to swim and be in the water! Here he is in the kiddie pool at a friend's house.
I had a hard time getting Kade out of the water. He will do anything to be outside!

Big Helper

Well it seems that Kade is no longer afraid of the vacuum cleaner, as long as I let him help me. I'm glad about that, because it was getting awfully hard for me to vacuum around trying not to upset Kade.
While I was vacuuming the carpets Kade was "vacuuming" the hard floor. He sure thought he was being a big helper!
I'm so glad that he is eager to help me all the time! I hope it lasts for a while!!

Antiquity Pictures

Here are Kade's antiquity pictures that were taken May 5. I love them!!!
These pictures were hard work for me! It's not hard to get Kade to smile at all, but I'd get him situated on the backdrop, Noel would get one picture in, and he'd run off. So I'd have to chase him down and start all over again. I got a good workout!
So sweet!
I don't know if I'm supposed to touch this, but I'm going to anyway!
He did not want to wear this hat at all, so we had to distract him with a cookie!

Already Chasing Girls

Last night Jake and I went to the track to walk and run. Jake ran while I walked and pushed Kade in the stroller. Once Kade got tired of riding he wanted out to run around. We just let him run wherever he wanted. First he started trying to chase birds on the football field, and then he saw a little girl about 5 years old. He started chasing her instead of the birds! He ended up running a whole lap before he got tired. That's 1/4 mile! He never caught her but had so much fun in the process.
