First Thanksgiving

Today was Kolt's first Thanksgiving. We spent lunch with Mimi & Papa, Uncle Bryan, Aunt Donna, Chloe, Mema, Pepa & Nicholas at Mimi & Papa's house. Then we went to Jake's parent's house for dinner. Jake's brother Kim, his wife Shari, and our nephews Kyle and Mik got to meet Kolt for the first time while we were there. We had a lot of great food today and fun visiting with all our family.

Potty Trained

Kade is completely potty trained now! We are very excited to only have one in diapers. He started wearing pull ups 2 months ago and would go to the bathroom off and on but nothing consistent. So we just kept encouraging him to use the bathroom. He was completely potty trained at day care, but for some reason he wouldn't use the bathroom at home. So last weekend Kade asked to wear his underwear instead of the pull ups, and he's been in them ever since! I put him in pull ups at night for the first few nights, but he was always dry in the mornings. So we decided to get rid of the pull ups all together. He hasn't had any accidents and is doing so good!

2 Week Checkup

Today was Kolt's 2 week checkup. He is doing great! He weighs 9 lbs. 7 oz., and is 21 1/4 in., which can't be right, since he was 21 1/2 in. at birth. He must have been curled up today! We came home from the hospital exactly 2 weeks ago, and Kolt was 8 lbs. 1 oz. when we went home. So he's gained 1 lb. 6 oz. in just 2 weeks! I guess I'm going to have another big boy. They scheduled all the 2 week old babies for appointments this afternoon, and Kolt was by far the biggest baby there!

Also tonight was Kolt's first trip to church. We had services tonight instead of Wednesday night due to Thanksgiving. He did really well and mostly slept right through it.

Kade was listening to one of his CD's, and it got really quiet. I found him sound asleep in the floor! He must've been worn out.

Strep Throat...Again

It's been a month since Kade had strep throat, and he went through all his antibiotics. But he started running a fever again over the weekend, and we noticed white bumps in the back of his throat. He said his throat didn't hurt, but we knew there was something wrong. So I took Kade to the doctor tonight to get him checked out. It turns out he has strep throat again. So I don't know if he just happened to get it again or if he never got over the first bout. So we got antibiotics again and hopefully this time it'll go away for good.

Two Weeks Old

Here is Kolt at 2 weeks old. I take him for his 2 week checkup on Tuesday, so I'll have measurements then. He is getting so big!

Kade is so proud of his little brother. He's always saying, "I love my baby brother!" Or telling people, "That's my baby." It's so sweet to see them together. I know they're going to be the best of friends!

Fun With Tom & Jeanie

While I was in the hospital having Kolt and for the first week after we came home, Kade stayed with Tom and Jeanie. That helped Jake and me adjust so much. I don't know how we would have done it without all their help. Here are some pictures of Kade spending the week with his great-grandparents.

First Time Out To Eat

Today we took the billibed back and while we were out, Jake's mom took Kolt and me out to eat. We went to Sam and Ella's. This was Kolt's first trip out to eat. It didn't go so well actually. He slept quietly until the food came, of course! Then he woke up and was ready to eat. This was my first time trying to breastfeed him in public, and he's still not great at latching on very fast. So he got very upset, because he's a little impatient and ending up screaming it seemed like forever. We just decided to get the rest of our food to go, and I fed him in the car before we came home. We'll try again soon when he's a little more experienced in the breastfeeding area!

One Week Old

My little man at 1 week old

Kolt is already one week old! I can't believe time is flying by so fast. Right now Kolt mostly sleeps. We are up quite a bit at night with feedings though. He wakes up every 1-2 hours during the night. I'm very much looking forward to when that time stretches out longer.

Billi Bed

Jake & I took Kolt in for his jaundice checkup Thursday, and his level had gone up to 15. So the nurse told us we had to get a billibed to put Kolt in to bring the level down. We were supposed to keep him in the bed constantly unless he was eating or being changed. And we had to take him back Friday to get checked again. On Friday, his level had gone down to 13, but they still wanted us to keep Kolt in the bed again and bring him back today. Today his level was finally down in the normal range, so we got to discontinue the bed. Thank goodness! It was so hard to just leave him laying in that bed all day long for 2 days in a row. Poor little guy!

Coming Home From the Hospital

We got to bring Kolt home from the hospital Tuesday night around 10:00 pm. It was a little different bringing him home at night. I was initially supposed to stay until Wed. morning so the pediatrician could check Kolt out on his morning rounds, but they ended up letting us go the night before. They did a jaundice test on him this evening before we left, and he is in the jaundice range, so they want us to bring him back Thurs. to check his levels again. Tonight he was an 11.1, which is just slightly jaundiced.

Kade and Kolt Meet

Since Kolt was born at 11:02 pm on Sunday night, Kade didn't meet him until the following day. He was so excited when he got to the hospital to see Kolt. He ran into my hospital room and immediately asked, "Where's Kolt"? He wanted to hold Kolt the entire time he was there and kept giving him kisses on his head. He was very sweet to his little brother!

Here is Kade with his new remote control truck from Kolt. We had been telling him for quite a while that when Kolt was born, he would have a present for Kade. He really enjoyed driving his truck around my room, and it was good that we were at the end of the hallway because it was a little noisy with the truck constantly running into the wall!
