Kade's New Haircut
Kade got a new haircut today. It's the shortest it has ever been. I really like it! I think it's going to be a good summer do. I've already had some comments that it's an Uncle Bryan haircut.
I told him to say cheese for the camera!

Bowl Hat & Vaseline
So Kade was eating some popcorn today, and he insisted that I give him the bowl. He thought it would be better used as a hat! He won't wear real hats but doesn't seem to mind bowls.
Popcorn is one of his favorite foods. He especially likes to eat the kernels. Jake said he did that when he was a kid too. I guess that's where he gets it.
Another funny story from today...I was getting ready to leave the house and was letting Kade go back and forth between the living room and our bedroom. He was playing with a fan in our room, and I was in the living room, but I could hear him turning it off and on. I knew exactly where he was and what he was doing even though I couldn't see him. So it got quiet and I said, "Kade, what are you doing?" He came walking out of our bedroom, I guess to let me know what he was doing. He was eating something and saying yum. I got a little scared because there's no food in our bedroom. I asked him what he was eating, and he took me right to it. He had gotten into some Vaseline and was sticking his hand as far in the container as possible, pulling his fingers out, and eating it off his hands. He had it all over his hands, face, and pacifier. Apparently it tasted good because he was going back for more! It was baby powder scent, so I guess that's where the "flavor" came in. :) Oops!!Saturday, June 07, 2008

Oklahoma Aquarium
Jake and I took Kade to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks today. Kade had a really good time! He loved to watch the fish swimming around in the tanks. He especially liked watching the stingrays and was trying to climb into the tank with them!
He would just watch the fish and point at them and say, "Oh!" Then when we moved on to another tank, he would cry to go back to the last one. I tried really hard to get him to say fish. But all he would say was bubbles!
Here we were watching raccoons, and there was a waterfall making a lot of noise right across from them. Kade thought that was neat!
Here is more fish watching. He was scared of the bigger fish though. I would try to set him up on the ledge around the tank, so he could see better. But he didn't like that. He had a death grip on my arm at all times! One time he was pointing at a fish through the glass, and it swam right up to his finger. He jerked it away real quick and started whining. I guess he thought it was going to "get him".
Here Kade got to touch a starfish. It was at the bottom of a little pool. I think he liked playing in the water more than anything! He also cried when we left this exhibit too. His favorite things were the stingrays and turtles. One other funny thing, we were looking into a tank with colorful sea urchins, and it had one brown, very plain, fish. What caught Kade's attention? The brown fish. He didn't care one bit about the pretty, colorful sea urchins! We had a lot of fun watching Kade discover new things!

Already Chasing Girls
Last night Jake and I went to the track to walk and run. Jake ran while I walked and pushed Kade in the stroller. Once Kade got tired of riding he wanted out to run around. We just let him run wherever he wanted. First he started trying to chase birds on the football field, and then he saw a little girl about 5 years old. He started chasing her instead of the birds! He ended up running a whole lap before he got tired. That's 1/4 mile! He never caught her but had so much fun in the process.

Kade's 1st Road Trip
Friday morning we left our house at 4 a.m. to go on a 15-hour car ride to visit Uncle Bryan at Fort Benning, Georgia for his family weekend pass. We finally arrived in Columbus, GA at 8:30 p.m. Friday night. Kade did really well riding in the car. We were all shocked! He didn't really want to nap too much on the way there but was in a good mood regardless.
We all got up Saturday morning to head the Fort Benning for the family briefing and to pick Bryan up. After the briefing we headed to his barracks where we watched a turning green ceremony for a few of the guys in his company. After that, he was free to go. It was great to see Bryan after 2 1/2 months! Kade wasn't sure what to think about Bryan at first. I think he was afraid of the BCG's.
We left Ft. Benning about 10:30 a.m., went back to the hotel to relax for a bit, and then took Bryan to eat lunch. Later the boys all went to see Iron Man, and the girls and Kade went back to the hotel to rest since I was feeling sick. Sunday Bryan got to sleep in, which was one of his requests. We basically just hung out and heard lots of stories from Bryan. We had to have him back on post by 7:30 p.m. Sunday night. Bryan had requested getting to sleep in until 8:00 a.m., getting a slush from Sonic, and eating at Outback Steakhouse. He got to do all of those things, so I think he had a good visit!
Here we are outside Bryan's barracks dropping him off Sunday night. We will be coming back to pick him up in 5 weeks. So it won't be much longer until we can see him again!
We headed back home Monday morning at 8:15 a.m. and got back home at 10:30 p.m. Kade slept a lot on the way home. He was worn out! I didn't have any trouble getting him to bed Monday night, and he slept until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday morning! So Kade traveled through 6 states on our trip, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.
