RSV... Again.
Last night Jake and I went out to Tulsa for dinner, and while we were gone Kade spent the night with Jake's parents. They called us this morning saying that Kade hadn't slept very well and was coughing quite a bit. We decided to go ahead and go to church, because Kade seemed to be feeling fine. While at church he started running a fever, so we left early. His fever was 102.6 and his cough wasn't getting any better. Since he had RSV last winter, we decided to go ahead and take him to the ER just to make sure it wasn't RSV. The cough sounded awfully familiar. We got to the ER at 6:30. After waiting an hour, they finally called us back to get Kade's vitals. His fever was 103.0 at this time. Since he had such a high fever they wouldn't send us to the fast track clinic. We had to wait in the ER. The doctor came in and listened to Kade's chest and called for chest x-rays. After the x-rays, a nurse came in to take a sample out of Kade's nose to test for RSV. His nose was so dry that when the nurse stuck the tube in there Kade's nose started bleeding, and he was scared to death. They barely got a sample, but we told them that would have to be good enough, because we weren't letting them do that to him again. So the sample came back showing he does have RSV. The doctor said we caught it early, so it's not that bad right now. He just barely had anything in his lungs, so that was very good. They gave us one medication to bring home and prescribed another. They also made Kade take a breathing treatment before we left, and we have to go back tomorrow to pick up the breathing treatment medication. I'm so thankful that we caught it early this time, and he is doing pretty good actually. As long as he isn't running fever, he is running around playing and seems as normal as can be.

Look What I Did!

So today, my friend Rachael kept Kade while I was at school. This was the first time that she kept Kade. And while he was there, he decided to make a complete mess of Martin's room! Rachael said that she was letting Kade and Martin play together in Martin's room, and Kade came out covered in powder! She hoped that it was just on Kade, but as you can see, it was everywhere. Luckily it was just one of the small bottles of powder. When Kade did this at our house I wasn't so lucky. He found the jumbo bottle. But thankfully Rachael wasn't mad and has even agreed to keep Kade again!!Saturday, January 17, 2009

Pirate
So I had a few updates on Kade, but I don't have any pictures right now.
Last week Kade got his first Webkins. We were at Hastings, and he started pulling all the animals out of their bins and was carrying them all around the store. I told him he had to put them all back, and then Jake said he could pick out one animal to take home with him. So he decided on the tiger. On the way home I kept asking him what he wanted to name his tiger. He would say, "umm..." and that's all I could ever get out of him. So the next day I kept asking him again periodically throughout the day, and he finally said he wanted to name his tiger Pirate. So that's his new name! I don't know where that came from, but it just cracked me and Jake up!
Another story... Kade was carrying my phone around the house the other night, and he was pushing all the keys on the keypad. He ran up to me and said, "Texting Mommy, texting." Don't they just pick up everything?!
Kade can also count from 1 - 11 all by himself! Here's a video of him counting to 10, although he's sticking his hands up in the camera the whole time. Then at the end he says, "Hold it, Kade hold it." He was wanting my camera the whole time! He sure is hard to get videos of these days.

Family Picture Time
We have made it a tradition to get family photos every year before Christmas. I was waiting to post them until after our family received theirs on Christmas. Hope you enjoy! These were taken at Honor Heights Park by Noel Cox Photography October 28, 2008.

Here's a funny story! I had been trying to help Kade be very careful about a week before our pictures were going to be taken, since he is always getting scratches, etc. on his face. I wanted the pictures to be scratch free! So everything had gone pretty smoothly, and he just had a small scratch on his nose. Well we got to Honor Heights Park and had taken a couple pictures. Kade decided he wanted to run down the path by himself, but then he went off the path and started running through the bushes and brush. Before we could get to him he started crying. I thought, oh great! Then I jokingly said, as long as his face is okay then everything's fine. Jake got to him first and turned Kade's face towards me. He had a giant scratch on his face running from the side of his cheek all the way under his eye. It was bleeding and everything, and we had just started our pictures. They all turned out great anyway! Noel is so good! The first couple of pictures were before the scratch, and I think you can only see it slightly in the monkey picture. That's a memory we'll never forget!

Christmas Day
Christmas morning we got up and let Kade open his gifts from Mom and Dad and see what Santa brought him. He got a digital camera from Santa and a full stocking with goodies. From Mommy & Daddy he got a Thomas the Train bedding set, some Thomas books, a Thomas placemat, and a Take-a-Long Thomas, Percy & Toby, trains that magnetize together. Kade loves Thomas and loves his new Thomas toys! Christmas afternoon we spent at my Aunt Donna's house in Broken Arrow with my dad, my grandparents, my brother, and our cousins. We ate a big dinner, and then opened presents. Kade got money, a helicopter toy and a chicken/egg game. Then for the evening we went over to my grandma Jeanie's house to have dinner and open presents with them. My mom, Bruce, Bryan and Tom & Jeanie were there. Kade got a Curious George DVD set, Thomas the Train DVD set, some shirts my grandma made him, a new swimsuit, a couple of other shirts, and more money. One of Kade's favorite things was playing in the styrofoam that was packing for one of our gifts. He was breaking it up and saying "snowing, snowing!"

Christmas Eve
For Christmas Eve afternoon we went to my dad's house. We ate lunch and opened presents there. Kade got a Radio Flyer wagon, Thomas the Train computer, Ratatouille book, Cars Magna Doodle, some money and a View Finder. Then we took Kade to get his hair cut. Tara did a really good job and cut Kade's hair into a faux hawk. It's so cute! Then for the evening we went over to Jake's parents' house to eat dinner and open presents with them & Holly. Kade got a Radio Flyer tricycle, Elmo & Cookie Monster vacuum cleaner, animal puzzle, Color Wonder book, and some money. He especially likes his tricycle! Here are a few pictures of our day.

Early Christmas Present
I didn't put out any of the Christmas presents under the tree until today, because I knew that Kade would be into all of them. So today while he was down for his nap, I started putting them out. As soon as he woke up, the first thing he was were the presents. He ran over to the tree and started yelling "presents"! Then he started crawling under the tree and pulling all the presents out. I told them that all those presents weren't for him. They were for our family. Then he saw the gifts wrapped in Sponge Bob paper. He started yelling "Bob, Bob"! I told him those were for him, and he'd have to ask Daddy if he could open one early. Daddy said yes, so I told Kade to pick out one of the presents to open. He studied them very hard and finally decided on one. He got Thomas the Train bath tub toys. There is a Thomas, James & Molly. Kade loves Thomas and knows all the trains by heart, so he was so excited! Here are a few pics of him and his new trains.

Kid's Christmas Party
Today all the moms had a Christmas party for our kids at Noel's house. It was so much fun! The kids got to have a picnic lunch of chicken nuggets and chips in the living room floor. Then we let the kids decorate sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles. Then each kid made a reindeer shirt. They are so cute! The reindeer's face is Kade's foot, and his ears are Kade's hands. Kade wasn't sure about putting paint on his foot and hands at first, but he let me do it. After the shirts the kids got to open gifts. We all brought dollar tree gifts for each kid to open. Kade got a basketball, car, tops, rubber stamp set & stuffed monkey. He had so much fun today! Then the kids played and watched a movie.

Friend's Christmas Party
Tonight we went over to Chad & Noel's house to have a Christmas party with our friends. Joel & Teresa, Nikki, Zach & Aadyn, Dustin, Rachael & Martin, and Chad, Noel, Araya & Kaya were all there. Teresa cooked a huge Christmas dinner, which was very good! Then we all opened gifts and had a great time. Later the guys played Rock Band while the girls played cards. Kade got a clock toy from Chad & Noel and a Build-A-Bear leopard with undies from Joel & Teresa. Thanks also to Chad & Noel, who gave Jake and me each a shirt, a coupon for pictures, and some candy, and also to Joel & Teresa, who got me a Bath & Body Works set and Jake some books.
Mommy's Graduation
Today I graduated from NSU. YAY, finally!! I had tons of family come to support me, so that was great. Jake, Kade, my brother Bryan, my mom, Bruce, my dad, Tina, my grandparents Mema & Pepa, my cousin Nicholas, my grandparents Tom & Jeanie, my in-laws Ron & Carolyn, and my sister-in-law Holly were all there. I also graduated with Kara Kelley, and we got to sit together since we were in alphabetical order. So that was nice to sit by a friend. Here are a few pics. I don't have the good ones yet, because my mom took those, and I haven't gotten them from her yet. So I'll post the better pictures later.

Visit With Santa
Tonight was Daddy's company Christmas party with OG&E. It was held at the Civic Center in Muskogee. It was a really nice party. They catered a meal from Jasper's, which was really good. Then after the meal Santa showed up. This is what we had been waiting for for a couple weeks. We had been telling Kade that he would get to see Santa tonight, and he was all excited. I wasn't so sure though. As soon as Santa walked in the room, Kade started whining "Mommy, Mommy." Then he crawled up in my lap and started crying. Santa walked to the other side of the room, and then Kade got happy real quick. He started saying "Bye Santa." Then when Santa came back he got scared again. Santa went up and sat in his sleigh to hand out gifts to the kids. So each kid was supposed to come up, get their gift, and get their picture taken on Santa's lap. Kade was deathly afraid of sitting on his lap. I asked him if Mommy could sit on Santa's lap, and Kade could sit on Mommy's lap. He gave a definite no! So when they called his name, I took him up to get his gift while he screamed the whole time and was covering his ears, something he does when he's scared. The photographer offered to just take a picture of Kade and me together, but I couldn't even get him calmed down enough for that. Oh well, there's always next year!
