Kade's 1st Road Trip

Kade on the car ride
Friday morning we left our house at 4 a.m. to go on a 15-hour car ride to visit Uncle Bryan at Fort Benning, Georgia for his family weekend pass. We finally arrived in Columbus, GA at 8:30 p.m. Friday night. Kade did really well riding in the car. We were all shocked! He didn't really want to nap too much on the way there but was in a good mood regardless.

We all got up Saturday morning to head the Fort Benning for the family briefing and to pick Bryan up. After the briefing we headed to his barracks where we watched a turning green ceremony for a few of the guys in his company. After that, he was free to go. It was great to see Bryan after 2 1/2 months! Kade wasn't sure what to think about Bryan at first. I think he was afraid of the BCG's.

We left Ft. Benning about 10:30 a.m., went back to the hotel to relax for a bit, and then took Bryan to eat lunch. Later the boys all went to see Iron Man, and the girls and Kade went back to the hotel to rest since I was feeling sick. Sunday Bryan got to sleep in, which was one of his requests. We basically just hung out and heard lots of stories from Bryan. We had to have him back on post by 7:30 p.m. Sunday night. Bryan had requested getting to sleep in until 8:00 a.m., getting a slush from Sonic, and eating at Outback Steakhouse. He got to do all of those things, so I think he had a good visit!

Here we are outside Bryan's barracks dropping him off Sunday night. We will be coming back to pick him up in 5 weeks. So it won't be much longer until we can see him again!

We headed back home Monday morning at 8:15 a.m. and got back home at 10:30 p.m. Kade slept a lot on the way home. He was worn out! I didn't have any trouble getting him to bed Monday night, and he slept until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday morning! So Kade traveled through 6 states on our trip, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.
