Kolt Asher Keeling is here!

I started having contractions early Sunday morning at 12:45 am, but they stopped after about 3-4 hours. Then my contractions started back up again Sunday afternoon at 12:00 pm. I started timing them, and they were coming every 5 minutes and lasting for 1 minute at a time. After a couple hours of this we decided we'd better head over to the hospital. Since I was positive for Beta Strep I was supposed to come to the hospital as soon as I started having contractions, so I could get the antibiotics before Kolt was born. Our first stop was at Carl's Junior! I wasn't going to go through labor without eating like I had with Kade. We got to the hospital about 3:00 pm, and they hooked me up to the monitors to see how my contractions were going and to monitor Kolt's heartbeat. The midwife checked me, and I was dilated 4+ cm, so they said they would definitely keep me. I was hooked up to the IV and given my first round of antibiotics. After that I was checked again and was at 5 cm. So I got up to walk around for a while. At this time my contractions were coming pretty often, but they were bearable, so I was actually feeling pretty good. Jake and I were just hanging out talking most of the time. Then at 7:30 pm I had my 2nd dose of antibiotics and was at 6+ cm. My midwife decided to go ahead and break my water around 8:00 pm so we could get my labor overwith. I was very agreeable to that! I was still doing ok at this point. A little while later my contractions started becoming a lot more intense, so I asked for some IV pain medication. After the 1st dose of that I was feeling pretty good again. My brother, Jake and my mom were all there in the delivery room with me at that time. The 1st dose of IV meds wore off, and I asked for a 2nd dose. It didn't work. So I asked for the epidural at this time. The pain was getting almost unbearable. The midwife checked me and I was 7-8 cm. They called the anesthesiologist, and it seemed like it took forever for her to get there. The midwife informed me that she was looking for my paperwork that I had signed for the epidural. She couldn't find it, so she came into the room and had me sign more paperwork and went over all the side effects and asked me a million questions about my health and families health. I couldn't even hear her at this point because the contractions were so intense. My mom was answering all the questions for me. So she went back out of the room to get her cart to come in and give me the epidural, and the nurse had me sitting on the side of the bed bent over ready to get it. As the anesthesiologist was heading back into the room, I started feeling a ton of pressure and could feel Kolt's head right there. I started telling them that I had to push, so they quickly layed me back, got the midwife, I pushed about 3 times, and in 5 minutes Kolt was born! It was probably the worst 5 minutes ever, but at least it didn't last long! And I can say I went through childbirth without an epidural!! Kolt was born at 11:02 pm and was 8 lbs 5 oz and 21 1/2 in long. When they put him on my chest I said, "He's heavy." He had some fluid in his lungs so he didn't cry right away, but it didn't take long. He is completely perfect in every way! Jake and I are very lucky to have 2 healthy, handsome boys!

39 Week Checkup

Today was my 39 week checkup. I saw the midwife Peachie Daugherty today. My blood pressure was 112/60, and I have still only gained 30 pounds. I was a little shocked to have not gained any weight over the past 2 weeks. I can't complain though! I am measuring 38 1/2 weeks, so just barely behind schedule. I'm also dilated 3+ cm, so that was very good news! Maybe it won't be long. Kolt's heartbeat was 145 bpm, great as always! This is the first time I've seen Peachie during this pregnancy, but I saw her when I was pregnant with Kade, and that's the day my water broke on her table, and I went into labor, and Kade was born. I was hoping I'd have the same luck today, but I didn't. I really hope he comes soon. I'm getting really anxious for his birth and am completely ready to not be pregnant anymore! I am 39 weeks pregnant today. Only 1 week left!
Here I am at 38 weeks 6 days pregnant.

Like Father, Like Son

Jake really enjoys playing games on his computer. And now Kade loves to play games on my computer too. Kade's favorite games are Thomas the Train. Here's a picture of Jake and Kade both getting a little computer time!

Happy Halloween

This evening we had planned on taking Kade to our church for Trunk-or-Treat and then take him Trick-or-Treating around a few neighborhoods here in town. So we got him all dressed up in his elephant costume, and he was already griping about wearing it. We finally convinced him to wear it so he could get his candy. We got to church and immediately Kade started crying. He was scared of everyone that was handing out candy from their cars because they were wearing costumes. He wouldn't even walk up to the cars, and he wouldn't wear his hood either. So Jake and I had to get his candy for him. We decided since he was so scared we'd just skip Trick-or-Treating and go home. We went ahead and dropped by my grandma's house first to let him get candy there and let her see his costume. She wanted Kade to stay and help her hand out candy to all the kids, so he was excited to do that. While he was handing out candy, he decided it might not be so bad to Trick-or-Treat after all, so we took him around Jeanie's neighborhood, and he loved it! He would go up to everyone's door, say "I'm an elephant!", and thank them for his candy. He even wore the hood on his costume. It turned out to be a great Halloween afterall!

While Trick-or-Treating we ran into some of our friends, so Kade went around with his friend Landon. Here they are showing off their costumes.

Last Date Night

Tonight Jake and I went out for a last date night before Kolt is born. We went to Tulsa and out to eat at PF Chang's. I have been craving PF Chang's for quite a while, but we haven't been to Tulsa lately. So this worked out just perfectly, a nice date night and fulfilling my craving! We had a fun night out and got to spend some good quality time together. While we were gone, Kade stayed over at Jeanie's house, his great-grandma. Tom and Jeanie took Kade to the mall to see the fish and ride on all the toys there. He had a great time!

Here is a pic Jeanie took while they were at the mall of Kade riding the fire truck.

Then Kade got to take a bubble bath in the big bath tub.

38 Week Checkup

Today was my 38 week checkup. I saw the midwife Mary Ann today. My vitals were good and my blood pressure was 120/68. I've still only gained 30 pounds, and I am measuring 38 weeks pregnant today, just right! Kolt's heart beat was 147 bpm. I go back a week from today for another checkup if I haven't had him yet. I am 38 weeks pregnant today.

Kolt's Baby Shower

Today was Kolt's baby shower that was given to me by the ladies from church. It was a great shower! Everyone was so generous to our family. We really appreciate everything!

Here I am with my shower hostesses at the cake table. We actually had frog and turtle cookies to match Kolt's bedding. They were so cute! My hostesses were Kandace Perryman, Crystal Howard, Becky Laney and Brittney Fisher. Thank you girls so much for a wonderful shower! Also Brittney made the adorable diaper cake!

Here I am sitting with all the gifts!

Kolt will be dressed in Sooners gear for sure!!

Kade Has Strep Throat

Well Kade started coughing yesterday, and we could tell he didn't feel good. He wasn't running any fever, but he just wanted to sit around and not do a whole lot. As the day went on his cough got worse, and his temperature was 99.6. With as many times as he's had RSV we are very cautious when he gets a cough. And also with all the flu going around, we just wanted to be careful and make sure he was okay. So Jake took him over to the ER last night around 7:00 pm. I stayed home because we didn't think it would be a good idea for me to sit in the ER and possibly catch something from someone, and I still am not completely well. Friday night was the first night I actually got to sleep almost all night in a week, and I did get out today for my mom's birthday party but am still not feeling back to normal. Jake and Kade were at the ER for around 3-3 1/2 hours and finally found out Kade has strep throat. So it was a relief to hear that he doesn't have RSV or the flu, but I hate that he has strep throat. So he has to take 2 bottles of antibiotics and Robitussin for his cough. He's already feeling better this morning but is still coughing quite a bit. He didn't sleep too well last night, but he's wanting to play today. So that's an improvement from yesterday, and he has no fever!

Daddy & Kade at the ER waiting to see the doctor. Poor little guy.

Another sad little boy with his daddy.

Here Kade is lounging in my chair. He climbed up there, reclined the foot rest and covered his feet up with his blanket! I'm glad that he's able to smile through his sickness today. He's feeling much better! What a difference a day makes!

37 Week Checkup

Today I had my 37 week checkup. I saw the midwife Mary Ann Bednarek today. She was one of the midwives I saw with Kade too, so I did know who she was. I had my vitals taken, and everything was good. I have gained 30 pounds now and am still not feeling well. I have been having back and stomach pain ever since last Friday night. So it's been 6 days now. She really couldn't tell me what the problem could be. She thought it might be some type of a virus, which they can't give me anything for, and said it should be going away soon since it's almost been a week. I sure hope so! I can't handle this much longer. I've already been off work 2 1/2 days this week. I made myself go today because I was having my last meeting for my teaching certification. I'm measuring 37 weeks, which is exactly right, and Kolt's heart beat was 138 bpm. Just perfect as always! I go back for my next checkup a week from tomorrow. I am 36 weeks 6 days pregnant today.

Here's a shot of me at 37 weeks 2 days pregnant at my baby shower.
